The UK has one of the most varied and remarkable coastlines in the world, stretching over 12,500 km and encompassing more than 1,000 islands, of which only 290 are permanently inhabited. During the summer of 2007 I will circumnavigate the UK mainland, paddling a total distance of 4,000 km, in order to raise money to support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
The route I have chosen is given in more detail on a later page, but in brief I have decided on a route which travels with the majority of the UK's prevailing winds and currents, paddling clockwise around the country.
